Members Bill of Rights
Have the right to the truth.
While no one is required to answer questions or offer up information, any statement should be true to that individual’s knowledge. Note that this rule is completely waived in the case of surprise parties and presents.
Have the right to respect and courtesy.
Off-color humor and potentially offensive language should be limited and disagreements should be handled in private. Religion and politics should be relegated to private conversations due to the diversity of the membership. All members are adults and have the right to be treated as such. Avoid talking down to, belittling, or otherwise insulting other members.
Have a right for your opinions to be heard and considered by the leadership.
No one should be ignored. Posts should not be casually deleted nor should members be haphazardly censored. While not all requests will result in action, each request should still be considered and discussed.
Have the right and responsibility to take an active role in guild participation.
Events are not mandatory, but helping each other and attending events is a hallmark of the guild. If a member requests assistance, at least take the time to respond (even if you have to advise that you cannot help at that time). Guild participation does include being cordial and saying hello and goodbye to your guild family.
Have the right to be thanked for their efforts.
If someone takes the time to provide a helping hand, thank them, regardless of the outcome of the assistance. Our time is valuable and no assistance should be thankless. Be sure that everyone feels appreciated and a part of the team.
Have the right to share with guild mates.
If you have extra items that you don’t need, let folks know. You also have the right to let people know what items you need. We do not sell items to guild members. Take care not to take advantage of a member’s generosity. If you are given an item and find later that you no longer need it, give it back to the original owner or someone in the guild who needs it. Never sell it for profit.
Have the right to the benefit of doubt.
Never assume that someone is ‘against’ you or has ill intentions. If you have problems with someone or question their intentions, discuss it with them like an adult (and in private) or speak to an upper rank about the situation.
Have the right to question leadership in an appropriate and private manner without fear of recrimination or backlash.
Open lines of communication between the members and the leadership are necessary for the growth and health of the guild. Members should not fear the leadership and should work in cooperation with them in order to promote the guild and good fellowship.
Have the right to privacy.
Aside from the questions in the initial application, you are not required to share any parts of your personal life that you do not wish to share.
Have the right to have fun except at the expense of others.
All members should strive to express a positive attitude and have fun wherever possible, without taking fun away from others.
Have the right to represent the guild with nobility and honor.
Each member is a representation of the guild in the Star Wars community and their actions directly reflect on the guild. Because of this direct connection, each member should act honorably in all dealings with others.
Have the right to follow the rules of etiquette.
The word "etiquette" means "the forms required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be required in social or official life." Etymologically, it comes from the French word for "ticket." If you know the etiquette for a particular group or society, you have a ticket for entry into it.
